Bollywood actress Malaika Arora recently faced legal trouble after she failed to appear in court in Saif Ali Khan’s 2012 brawl case. The actress was scheduled to appear in court as a witness.
However, the Mumbai court has now re-issued a bailable warrant against the actress. Chief Judicial Magistrate K.S. Zanwar is currently recording the testimonies of the witnesses in the case. The court initially issued the bailable warrant on February 15. However, after Malaika missed the hearing, the court decided to re-issue the bailable warrant on Monday.
Malaika’s warrant came after Amrita Arora recorded her testimony. In her testimony, the actress revealed that after the NRI businessman complained about their loud noises, Saif apologized and then stepped away to use the restroom.
She further claimed that they heard loud voices, including Saif’s. Shortly after, they saw the man burst into their private area and physically assault the actor.
For the unversed, the actress was part of the dinner when Saif Ali Khan allegedly attacked an NRI businessman, Iqbal Mir Sharma, at a five-star hotel in February 2012. The group also involved Kareena Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor, Amrita Arora Ladak, and a few male friends.
Saif Ali Khan and two others were arrested after businessman Iqbal Sharma filed a complaint, but they were later granted bail.
According to police, Iqbal Sharma complained about the group's loud conversation, prompting Saif to allegedly threaten and then punch him, breaking his nose. The NRI businessman further alleged that Saif and his friends physically assaulted his father-in-law, Raman Patel.
However, Saif countered that Iqbal made derogatory comments and used abusive language towards the women in his group, which sparked the altercation. Saif Ali Khan and his two friends, Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi, have been formally charged under Section 325 (assault) of the Indian Penal Code.
