AR Murugadoss' action thriller Madharasi, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Rukmini Vasanth, is creating a buzz at the box office. The film was released on September 5 and did well in the opening weekend.
According to a trade website, Madharasi earned Rs 10.75 crore net in India on its third day for all languages. The total of the film now stands at Rs 36.60 crore net in India. The film registered an overall 56.03% Tamil occupancy on Sunday with 39.49% morning, 66.36% afternoon, 64.67% evening, and 53.58% night shows.
Madharasi opened in the theatres with a decent collection of Rs 13.65 crore net in India. The film continued the momentum and earned Rs 12.1 crore on the second day. The film is giving a tough competition to Tiger Shroff, Sanjay Dutt and Harnaaz Sandhu starrer action thriller Baaghi 4, which earned Rs 31.25 crore net in India in three days.
Madrasi is about an unsettled man who must find his footing in order to survive the crossfire between the police and the dangerous world of arms smuggling, following the disturbance caused by recent events.

The Tamil-language psychological action thriller also stars Vidyut Jammwal and Rukmini Vasanth in the lead roles. Madrasi was officially announced in September 2023 under the tentative title SK23 and then Dil Madrasi, as it is Sivakarthikeyan's 23rd film as a lead actor.
The official title was revealed in February 2025. The film is produced by Sri Lakshmi Movies and also features Biju Menon, Shabir, and Vikrant in supporting roles.
