Keerthy Suresh who is celebrating the success of her Bollywood debut, Baby John, directed by Kalees has recently revealed the Samantha Prabhu layed a pivotal role in her casting for the film.
Keerthy steps into a role originally portrayed by Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the Tamil version, a part she was excited to take on due to her close bond with Samantha. Her enthusiasm to add her personal flair to the character has been well-received, earning praise from both fans and critics for her captivating performance in the film.
During a recent conversation with Galatta India, Keerthy disclosed that Samantha played a pivotal role in her casting for 'Baby John', she said, "She probably had me in mind when this was happening; that’s what Varun (Dhawan) also told me. I can’t be grateful enough for that. It’s so sweet of her to say, ‘Keerthy will be able to pull off this character.’”
Keerthy added that Samantha’s performance in 'Theri' is one of her favourites in Tamil films. “Honestly, I was very scared," she shared.

Keerthy Suresh and Samantha Ruth Prabhu previously collaborated in Nag Ashwin’s highly praised biographical drama Mahanati. The film, which also starred Dulquer Salmaan, Vijay Deverakonda, and Bhanupriya, was a major success.
Keerthy’s remarkable portrayal of legendary actress Savitri earned her the National Film Award for Best Actress, solidifying her place as one of the industry's top talents. Their collaboration in Mahanati remains a celebrated moment in Indian cinema.
Meanwhile, Baby John, featuring Varun Dhawan in the lead role alongside Wamiqa Gabbi and Keerthy Suresh, garnered around Rs 30 crores at the box office within just six days of its release. The film, which premiered on December 25, coincided with the Christmas holiday, giving it a strong start and drawing audiences during the festive season.
