Bigg Boss OTT 3, which streams online on Jio Cinema, is under the scanner for an alleged intimate video clip of contestant couple Armaan Malik and his second wife Kritika Malik.
The online platform has now issued an official statement saying that the said clip, which is now viral on the net, is 'doctored to include obscenity and is fake'.
In its official statement, Jio Cinema has written and we quote: "JioCinema adheres to strict programming standards and guidelines to ensure quality and appropriateness of any content that streams on our platform. Bigg Boss OTT which was streamed on JioCinema did not have any such content. The video clip in circulation is doctored to include obscenity and is fake. We are committed to protecting the integrity of JioCinema and the trust our viewers place in us. The creation and circulation of this fake clip is a matter of very serious concern."
The statement further reads: "Our teams are working towards identifying the origins of this clip and will intiate action against those responsible for creating and distributing such defamatory content against Bigg Boss OTT and JioCinema."
On Monday, Shiv Sena leader had said that the telecast of the reality show Bigg Boss OTT 3 be stopped, claiming that a recent episode of the show had obscene content.
Manisha Kayande, who is also the spokesperson of the ruling Shiv Sena, led by Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, met Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar and made the demand. She said that the episode aired on July 18 showed Armaan Malik in a seemingly intimate moment with his second wife Kritika Malik under the covers in the Bigg Boss bedroom. "The couple trampled upon all boundaries of human relations and social norms," she added.
"Even kids watch the show and it impacts them," she said. The show should be stopped and a case be filed under cyber crime laws against the show producers and CEO of the company that airs it, Kayande said. "Big Boss is no longer a family show. Armaan Malik and Kritika Malik crossed all the limits," she said.
The Sena MLCs demand for a ban on Bigg Boss OTT came amidst some viewers interpreting the footage as an intimate moment, while others claiming that the second part of the viral video clip might be edited content spliced from the international version of the show, Big Brother.
Earlier Armaan's first wife Payal, who has been evicted from the show, also came out in her husband's support and said that the clip was fake. In her vlog, she claimed that the video that has now gone viral is an edited one.
"Whoever has shared the video claiming it is Armaan and Kritika’s I would request them with folded hands to stop. The video is edited. I have stayed at Bigg Boss house and I can say that there are no lamps like the ones seen in the viral clip. The blanket is also different. Those who have stayed inside the house will quickly understand that the clip is fake," said Payal.
Bigg Boss OTT 3 streams on JioCinema.
