Homebound, starring Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor and Vishal Jethwa, has been selected as the official entry for 2026 Oscars. As the film's entire team and the country rejoiced at the proud feat, Ishaan and Vishal celebrated in the most fun way.
Vishal shared a video clip in a joint post on Instagram in which they are seen celebrating the big announcement. Ishaan is seen feeding a sweet to Vishal and can also be heard screaming, “Oscaarrrsss."
The caption of the post read, "Oscarsssssss #homebound."
Several fans and netizens rushed to the comment section and congratulated him. One wrote, "Loving The Energy." Another user wrote, "I can’t wait for you two to bring fire on The Oscars Red Carpet." A user also commented, "GUJJU BOY FIRE AND ISSS SAAAAL OSCARS NAMDU TO Homebound." Another user wrote, "Can’t wait to see you on red carpet."
According to news agency PTI, the Film Federation of India (FFI), which chooses the nation's official Academy Awards entry, confirmed its choice on Friday. With this choice, Homebound will represent India and vie for an Oscar nomination the following year against submissions from more than 100 nations.
Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, Homebound tells the story of two childhood friends who strive to clear the national police exam, navigating challenges and personal growth along the way.

Only three Indian films have received nominations in the Best International Feature Film category in the past, but none of them have won: Mother India (1958), Salaam Bombay! (1989), and Lagaan (2002).
Hoembound had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May this year and it received a standing ovation from the audience. The premiere was attended by Ishaan, Janhvi, Vishal, Karan Johar, and Neeraj.
