Oscar-winning actress Diane Keaton passed away on Saturday, October 11. She was 79.
The official cause of her death is yet to be revealed. However, her close friend revealed that the veteran actress died unexpectedly.
According to People, Diane Keaton's spokesperson said, “There are no further details available at this time, and her family has asked for privacy in this moment of great sadness.”
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Fire Department reportedly responded to her home early that morning and took the veteran actress to a local hospital.
A source close to Diane Keaton said, “She declined very suddenly, which was heartbreaking for everyone who loved her. It was so unexpected, especially for someone with such strength and spirit.”
“In her final months, she was surrounded only by her closest family, who chose to keep things very private. Even longtime friends weren’t fully aware of what was happening,” added the source.
Tributes started pouring in soon after the news of her death was revealed.
The veteran actress’ passing came just months after she listed her beloved Los Angeles estate, often referred to as her “dream home,” for $29 million. She moved to the five-bedroom, seven-bathroom home in 2017 and spent eight years renovating it.
Diane Keaton had been open about her health issues over the years, particularly her struggles with bulimia and skin cancer. However, she had not revealed any new medical diagnoses.
