Harshvardhan Rane who became a sensation after the re-release of his debut film Sanam Teri Kasam, has recently shared that he would not be a part of the film's sequel if the makers opt for the same cast.
Amid the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, Harshvardhan condemned Pakistani actress and his co-star in the film Sanam Teri Kasam Mawra Hocane after she commented against India on her social media account following Operation Sindoor by India.
Harshvardhan took to his Instagram Stories and wrote, “While I am grateful for the experience however as things stand, and after reading the direct comments made about my country, I have made a decision to respectfully decline to be a part of ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ part 2 if there is any possibility of the previous cast being repeated".
In his second Instagram Story, he posted a screenshot of Mawra Hocane’s remarks concerning India’s anti-terror operations, adding his own commentary to further criticize her stance, “I respect all artists and humans of this country, that country, Kenya and even Mars, but this kind of derogatory remarks about my country by anyone is unpardonable. Am okay with losing out on followers on Instagram, but won’t allow anyone to walk over the pride and upbringing. Standing by your country is good, but disrespectful, hate remarks about other country is not."
Originally released in 2016, Sanam Teri Kasam didn’t make a strong impact at the box office. However, its re-release in February 2025 turned the tables, earning over Rs 50 crore and achieving far greater success than during its initial run.
Harshvardhan is set to star next in Deewaniyat, a musical love story slated for release in 2025. The film is penned and helmed by Milap Zaveri and produced by Amul V Mohan and Anshul Mohan under the Vikir Films banner.
