Television actor, dancer and MTV Splitsvilla Season 12 Priyamvada Kant, who rose to fame with her role in Tenali Rama, often promotes a positive and mindful lifestyle on social media.
In an exclusive conversation with Priyamvada on the occasion of International Yoga Day, the TV star reflects on the importance of Yoga and how she manages to incorporate it into her busy schedule.
When asked about how yoga has helped enhance her body awareness and emotional well-being, Priyamvada told us, “As someone trained in classical Odissi dance since the age of seven, I’ve always had a strong connection with my body.”
She added, “But it was yoga that really deepened my awareness both physically and emotionally. After I lost my father, I went through a very difficult time. Practicing yoga and meditation brought a sense of calm and clarity that helped me heal and reconnect with myself. It’s something I continue to lean on, especially when I’m performing or preparing for intense roles.”
She talks about how Yoga influences her performance or artistic expression. She told Moneycontrol, “Absolutely. Yoga brings me into the present moment and helps me stay grounded something that’s so important when I’m acting or even writing. The breathwork and stillness of yoga often spark new thoughts or emotions that I’m able to channel into my creative process. Whether I’m on stage or in front of a camera, it helps me show up fully aligned and connected.”
Priyamvada also shared how she incorporates yoga into her daily life, especially when juggling shoots, travel, and content creation.
The TV actor said, “I don’t follow a rigid fitness routine. I believe in listening to my body. Some days it’s a 20-minute home workout or a gentle yoga flow. On others, it’s dance or long walks. The key for me is consistency and joy. I also make sure to stay hydrated, eat balanced meals (no crash diets!), sleep well, and laugh a lot. Yoga is the foundation that helps me keep it all in balance.”
She also shared tips for the young generation to disconnect and find inner calm.
Priyamvada shared with us, “It’s easy to feel overwhelmed with everything constantly coming at us online. I think even a few minutes of yoga- just sitting with your breath or doing simple stretches can help you tune out the noise. It’s about taking time to reconnect with yourself. Yoga doesn’t have to be fancy or long, it just needs to be honest and regular.”
While sharing a message to the fans who look up to her for wellness inspiration, Priyamvada noted, “Start small, stay consistent, and be kind to yourself. You don’t need hours in a studio—just 15–20 minutes a day to move, breathe, and center yourself. Drink water, sleep well, laugh, and don’t be too hard on yourself. Wellness isn’t about perfection, it’s about presence. That’s the message I live by and what I want to share with anyone who follows me.”
When asked about how yoga helps her stay mentally balanced behind the scenes, Priyamvada revealed to Moneycontrol, “What people see on social media is just a part of my life. Behind the scenes, yoga and meditation keep me mentally balanced. They’ve helped me deal with moments of anxiety, pressure, and even grief. Especially after my father’s passing, yoga was what brought me back to myself. It’s a quiet strength that supports everything I do on and off screen.”
Priyamvada also admitted that yoga has helped her manage emotional ups and downs, especially during low phases.
She said, “Yes, definitely. There have been phases when I’ve felt low, uncertain, or emotionally drained and in those times, I chose to pause. Yoga and meditation became my safe space. They helped me process what I was feeling and gave me the courage to step back into the world, especially when I transitioned back to theatre after a personal loss. It’s a journey, and yoga has been my anchor.”
