Hema Malini revels she and Dharamendra never wanted their kids to enter the showbiz

Celebrated for her warmth and poise, veteran actress and dancer Hema Malini recently took her fans on a heartfelt journey into her family's strong bonds and parenting philosophy.

She considered the fine line between mentoring her kids and letting them go down their own paths in a previous interview.

Hema revealed that while she had initially hoped her daughter, Esha Deol, would pursue fields like interior designing or artโ€”where Eshaโ€™s skills as a painter and creative eye could truly shineโ€”life had other plans.

โ€œHum log chah the ki voh log doosra koi profession le, jaise ki main chah rhi thi ki mere badi beti, Esha jo hai voh interior designing wagerah kreโ€ฆ she is a very good artist, he is a very good painter,โ€ she shared. But in the end, Esha returned to acting, just like her famous parents.

Hema emphasised the value of direction over coercion rather than disappointment. โ€œToh jaise aagyi, toh hum nahin keh skte, hum maa-baap ka farz yahi banta hai ki hum unko madad kren, help kren, proper line pr, barabar sikha kr, ussi line pr laayen,โ€ she explained, highlighting a philosophy rooted in support, patience, and trust in her childrenโ€™s choices.

This sense of accountability goes beyond being a parent. Following his discharge from the hospital due to age-related illnesses, Hema recently provided an update on her husband Dharmendra's health.

She revealed how the family had been under immense strain during his hospitalisation, with the children โ€œsleeplessโ€ with worry.

Speaking to The Times of India, she said, โ€œIt has not been an easy time for me. Dharamji's health is a matter of great concern for us. His children are sleepless. I can't afford to be weak, too many responsibilities. But yes, I am happy he's back home. We are relieved he is out of hospital.โ€

The actress added, โ€œHe needs to be among the people he loves. Baki toh sab upar wale ke haath mein hai (Everything else is in the hands of the Almighty). Please pray for us.โ€

Outside their Juhu residence, police barricades have been set up to manage crowds and the media, while a video of Sunny Deol confronting paparazzi has gone viral, capturing the familyโ€™s desire for privacy during these stressful times.
