'Jaani Dushman' (2002) remains one of the most iconic films in Bollywood. Despite earning over Rs 18 crore at the box office, the movie didn’t perform well initially. However, over the years, it has gained a cult following due to its unique plot and special effects. In a recent interview, Arshad Warsi reflected on his experience working on the thriller and shared his thoughts on the film.
Arshad also shared how Akshay Kumar was so enthusiastic about the project that he was ready to take on any role, demonstrating his full commitment and excitement for the film.
In a recent interview with 'Mashable India', Arshad Warsi opened up about his experience filming the 2002 movie 'Jaani Dushman', which featured a star-studded cast including Sunny Deol, Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Aditya Pancholi, and Manisha Koirala.
He said, "It’s a cult movie. I love it. It's the only film where I have laughed myself to death. If you look closely, you’ll see a smile on my face when I'm dying."
Warsi shared how, early on in the film, he requested the director to kill off his character, Abdul, before anyone else. He recalled saying, "That was one film where my first request was ‘Sir, sabse pehle aap mujhe maaroge.’" The director responded, "Nahi yaar, do ke baad tujhe maarunga," to which Warsi agreed, "Theek hai sir."
In the same interview, he fondly remembered how Akshay Kumar was eager to take on multiple roles in the film. Warsi shared that Kumar told the director he would return in a new avatar whenever a character died, saying, "He is unbelievable. He was willing to do everybody’s role. He said, ‘Jo bhi marega, uske baad mai aajata hu’ (I will come as the reincarnation of whoever dies)."

Warsi continued, describing how Akshay's character could change forms and undertake different missions, much like 'Mission Impossible'. "Everything was happening. Whoever died, Akshay came back like them," Warsi said. "There were so many funny things that happened in that. It is a cult classic. That film is unbelievable." He concluded.
Directed by Rajkumar Kohli, 'Jaani Dushman' is a story about a girl who kills herself after she is sexually assaulted. A shape-shifting snake, once her lover in a past life, seeks revenge on the men who assaulted and killed her. The movie has become a meme material on the internet in today's times because of its illogical scenes.
