Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule is dominating the box office, achieving a record-breaking global gross of Rs 294 crore on its opening day.
Pushpa 2: The Rule, directed by Sukumar, has shattered box office records with its Day 1 collection, grossing an impressive Rs 294 crore globally. This achievement has set a new benchmark for the highest opening in Indian cinema, surpassing the previous record held by SS Rajamouli’s RRR (Rs 223.5 crore), followed by Baahubali 2 (Rs 217 crore) and Kalki 2898 AD (Rs 175 crore). The film's opening surpassed expectations, with trade experts predicting it would earn just over Rs 150 crore.
The production company, Mythri Movie Makers, revealed the box office numbers in a post on Instagram and the caption read, "The Biggest Indian Film creates History at the box office. #Pushpa2TheRule grosses 294 crores worldwide on Day 1 making it the highest opening day in Indian Cinema."
According to Sacnilk, Pushpa 2 has surpassed the box office performance of its predecessor, Pushpa, within just two days, driven by strong contributions from the Hindi-speaking regions. The film's global earnings have now crossed Rs 400 crore in just two days, outpacing the entire run of Pushpa, which grossed Rs 350 crore, making Pushpa 2 Allu Arjun's highest-grossing film to date.
Pushpa 2 continued its strong performance on day two, earning Rs 90.1 crore nett in India. This brings the film’s total collections in India to an impressive Rs 265 crore nett over its first two days.
Breaking it down by language, the Telugu version earned Rs 27.1 crore, the Hindi version brought in Rs 55 crore, the Tamil version made Rs 5.5 crore, the Malayalam version earned Rs 1.9 crore, and the Kannada version contributed Rs 60 lakh.
In the sequel, Allu Arjun reprises his role as Pushpa Raj, the laborer-turned-sandalwood smuggler, with Rashmika Mandanna returning as Srivalli and Fahadh Faasil portraying SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat. The film was released in theatres on December 5.
