Ali Fazal has secured his next international film role in Rule Breakers, where he will share the screen with Fleabag star and creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
Directed by two-time Oscar winner Bill Guttentag and produced by Angel Studios, the film delves into themes of resilience and defiance in Afghanistan. Rule Breakers is set to release in March. Fazal expressed his excitement about being part of the project and collaborating with such a talented actor as Waller-Bridge.
Ali Fazal said, "This project resonates with me deeply, and I believe it’s crucial to tell stories that highlight the strength and resilience of individuals in challenging circumstances. I look forward to bringing this narrative to life and reaching audiences globally. I am so thrilled to be able to support a film that we think every parent should take their daughter to watch in the theatres. And the story being so inspiring, it was no surprise that Phoebe Waller-Bridge also stepped in. She is a powerhouse of talent, so her addition I am sure has lifted the film to greater heights."
Ali Fazal, who was last seen in the Hollywood film Kandahar (2023) alongside Gerard Butler, has made a name for himself in international cinema with roles in films like Victoria & Abdul, Furious 7, and Death on the Nile.
Back home, he is widely recognized for his standout performances in the Fukrey film series and the popular Mirzapur web series. Fazal is also set to reprise his beloved role as Guddu Pandit in an upcoming theatrical film based on Mirzapur, Prime Video's acclaimed crime thriller.
On the personal front, Ali Fazal became a girl dad as he welcomed their daughter Zuneyra Ida Fazal with actress wife Richa Chadha recently on July 16 this year.
