PSY recently concluded his highly successful Summer Swag concert series with a final performance at the Suwon World Cup Stadium. The event was marked by an electrifying atmosphere, where PSY also extended his support to BTS' SUGA, who has been involved a DUI case.
As PSY prepared to perform his hit song That That, which was produced in collaboration with SUGA, he paused to address the crowd. In a heartfelt message, PSY expressed his gratitude to SUGA, saying, "Thank you, SUGA, for making this song and working with me." This statement was not just a nod to their successful collaboration but also a show of support for SUGA during a difficult time.
The support from PSY comes at a crucial moment for SUGA, who has been under intense scrutiny following a DUI incident involving an electric scooter on August 6. On that night, SUGA was found driving under the influence, which led to his arrest and subsequent public backlash. Despite the controversy, the industry and fans have rallied around him.
On the same day as PSY's concert, SUGA took to Weverse to post a second apology letter, addressing the incident with deep remorse. In his letter, SUGA expressed his shame and regret for his actions and acknowledged the disappointment and hurt he caused to his fans, BTS members, and the public. He admitted his mistake of driving under the influence and walking on the pavement with an electric scooter, which led to the incident. He also expressed his sorrow for the confusion caused by his initial apology, which he felt was hastily made.
Currently, SUGA is fulfilling his mandatory military service as a social service worker, having completed his basic training at the Nonsan Training Center in March 2023.
