Kannada actor Darshan, currently imprisoned on charges of kidnapping and murdering his fan Renukaswamy, has been granted access to a television in his jail cell. According to IANS, jail authorities permitted the installation of a 32-inch TV in his cell early on Saturday.
The actor had expressed his 'curiosity' about current events outside the prison and requested a TV last week, citing his need to stay updated on news related to the chargesheet in his case. Darshan was recently moved to Ballari prison after a controversial photo surfaced showing him relaxing with three others, including a known rowdy-sheeter, on the jail's lawns, sparking public outrage.
On Wednesday, the Bengaluru Police submitted a 3,991-page chargesheet (consisting of seven volumes and 10 files) against Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and 16 others to the 24th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court.

Darshan faces serious charges including murder, conspiracy, kidnapping, and destruction of evidence. The chargesheet also implicated Pavithra Gowda in the crime, supported by forensic evidence that confirmed her involvement.
According to the chargesheet, Pavithra allegedly struck Renukaswamy with her footwear, which was found to have his bloodstains, confirmed through DNA analysis. Sources indicate that Pavithra was a "major cause" of Renukaswamy's murder, as the investigation has shown that she not only conspired with the other accused but also instigated them and actively participated in the crime.
