Aamir Khan hoists Indian flag at 16th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne

Aamir Khan, one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated actors, added another proud chapter to his illustrious journey by hoisting the Indian national flag at the 16th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2025.

Known for his powerful performances and remarkable screen presence, Aamir’s participation in the festival drew immense admiration from fans and attendees alike.

Currently in Melbourne, Aamir inaugurated the prestigious festival, which is running from August 14 to 24. This year’s edition features an exciting blend of screenings, panel discussions, interactive sessions, exclusive events, and the much-awaited Independence Day flag-hoisting ceremony. The festival will celebrate and honour outstanding films and digital projects released between June 15, 2024, and June 14, 2025.


Aamir Khan’s presence was especially significant as the event coincided with India’s Independence Day celebrations. The flag-hoisting ceremony marked a moment of pride and unity, symbolising the growing cultural influence of Indian cinema across the globe.

On the professional front, Aamir has had a remarkable year. His latest release, Sitaare Zameen Par, emerged as one of the most loved films of 2025. The film, directed by R. S. Prasanna, stars Aamir alongside 10 debutants and Genelia Deshmukh.

Released in theatres on June 20, 2025, it struck an emotional chord with audiences, becoming a major box-office success. The film is now available for streaming on YouTube via Aamir Khan Talkies (Janta Ka Theater), further expanding its reach to a wider audience.

Adding to his streak of successes, Aamir was also seen in Coolie, released on August 14, 2025. The star-studded film features Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Shruti Haasan, and others, making it one of the most talked-about multi-starrer projects of the year.

Through his films and international presence, Aamir Khan continues to be a true ambassador of Indian cinema, carrying forward the country’s cultural pride on a global platform.
