Karan Johar recently celebrated the 12th anniversary of Student Of The Year, a film that marked the debut of Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Sidharth Malhotra.
This milestone prompted the filmmaker to take a nostalgic trip down memory lane, revisiting what he describes as the 'best time of his life' during the production of this iconic campus rom-com. To commemorate the occasion, Karan shared unseen behind-the-scenes photographs featuring the trio, evoking a sense of nostalgia for fans and cast alike.
Karan, who both directed and produced the film, reflected on the joy of creating it. In his heartfelt caption accompanying the pictures, he expressed, “Let’s start with...there’s something about ‘today’, something very special!!! 12 years and I look back at the film I embarked on, solely to have the best time of my life. And best time, it was!”
Released 12 years ago, Student Of The Year was a launching pad for the three stars, who have since risen to the pinnacle of the Bollywood industry.
In a recent interview, Alia Bhatt revealed that she hopes her daughter Raha will one day watch Student Of The Year. She fondly remarked, “I want Raha to watch Student Of The Year because it’s the youngest and most chill film a kid could watch. It was my first film, and although I’m not particularly proud of my performance in it, it’s full of songs that I think she would really enjoy.”
Currently, Karan Johar is actively involved in multiple projects under his Dharma Productions banner. He co-produced the recent jailbreak drama Jigra, featuring Alia as the lead.
Upcoming titles include Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari and a biopic on C Sankaran Nair starring Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan, and Ananya Panday. He is also hosting the reality show The Traitors while preparing to direct a grand series for Netflix.

Varun Dhawan is gearing up for the spy series Citadel: Honey Bunny alongside Samantha Ruth Prabhu, scheduled for release in November. He will also appear in the Atlee-produced film Baby John and is currently filming Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari with Janhvi Kapoor.
Sidharth Malhotra's last release was Yodha, and while he has yet to announce his next project, reports suggest he may reunite with his Shershaah co-star and wife Kiara Advani for a romantic film.
