Prominent allies on Friday proposed the name of Narendra Modi as the leader of the NDA Parliamentary party, paving the way for him to become the Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive term.

While addressing the NDA parliamentary party meeting, PM Modi said  Odisha  will be among country's key growth engines. "When I think about Lord Jagannath, I believe that he is the God of the poor. The revolutionary results that have come in #Odisha, I am sure, the dream of Vikshit Bharat, with the blessing of Lord Jagannath, Odisha will be one the growth engines of the 'vikas yatra' of the country in the next 25 years," said Modi.

He also expressed his "heartfelt gratitude to all the leaders of the constituent parties present in this assembly hall, all the newly elected MPs and Rajya Sabha MPs.

“We are committed to the principle of sarva dharma sambhava (all religions are equal),” he said while addressing NDA MPs, allies, chief ministers and other senior leaders present at the meeting on Friday. “This is most successful alliance in India’s history; our aim will be to reach unanimity in all our decisions,” he said.

Leaders of the NDA allies garlanded Modi as a proposal by senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh to make him the alliance leader was unanimously endorsed. He is likely to be sworn in as the prime minister of India for the third time during the oath-taking ceremony on June 9 at 6 pm.
