Faridabad is one of Haryana's 10 Lok Sabha constituencies, encompassing nine Assembly segments: Hathin, Hodal, Palwal, Prithla, Faridabad NIT, Badkhal, Ballabgarh, Faridabad, and Tigaon.

In the upcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled for May 25, the Faridabad constituency anticipates an intriguing contest. The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Krishan Pal Gurjar, aiming for his third consecutive victory, is a strong contender. However, he faces stiff competition from Congress' Mahendra Pratap and Jannayak Janta Party’s youth president, Nalin Hooda, both determined to challenge the BJP's dominance in the area.

Congress’ Mahendra Pratap, 79, has served as a minister from 1991-1996 in the Bhajan Lal-led Congress government and from 2009-2014 in the Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led Congress government.

On the other hand, BJP’s Krishan Pal Gurjar, 67, is a two-time Member of Parliament from Faridabad. He defeated Congress leader Avtar Singh Bhadana in 2014, securing 57.70% of the vote share, and again in 2019 with a massive margin of 638,239 votes.

Gurjar began his political career in 1994 as a councillor in the Faridabad municipal corporation. In the 1996 Haryana assembly polls, he was elected Member of Legislative Assembly from Mewla Maharajpur and was appointed transport minister in the Bhajan Lal-led Haryana Vikas Party-BJP government.

Both Pratap and Gurjar are traditional opponents in politics and belong to the Gurjar community, a key deciding factor in the Faridabad parliamentary seat. Other influential communities in the constituency include Jats, Meo-Muslims, Punjabis, and Brahmins.

Historically, BJP's Ram Chander Bainda represented Faridabad three times consecutively in 1996, 1998, and 1999, while Congress leader Avtar Singh Bhadana won the seat three times in 1991, 2004, and 2009.

Total number of voters in the Faridabad Lok Sabha constituency is 24.14 lakh.
