Madhubani, one of Bihar's 40 Lok Sabha constituencies and located in the northern part of the state, comprises six assembly seats: Keoti, Jale, Madhubani, Benipatti, Bisfi, and Harlakhi. The incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Ashok Kumar Yadav, will contest against the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s (RJD) Md Ali Ashraf Fatmi, who is contesting as part of the I.N.D.I.A. bloc.

Ashok Kumar Yadav is the son of Hukuldev Narayan Yadav, a veteran socialist leader and former five-time MP from this seat.

Fatmi, a four-time MP from Darbhanga, has a political career spanning over 15 years. Expelled from RJD before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Fatmi joined Janata Dal (United) (JDU) and later became its National General Secretary. However, he resigned from JDU to rejoin RJD and is now contesting from Madhubani.

This seat, once considered a Congress stronghold, has been in the possession of the BJP for many years.

The Congress has represented this area seven times. MPs from the Communist Party of India (CPI) three times, and the Prajatantrik Socialist Party, Samyukta Socialist Party, and Bharatiya Lok Dal have also been elected once.

In 2019, the BJP's Ashok Kumar Yadav secured a massive victory, defeating his nearest rival from the Vikassheel Insan Party by a significant margin. His margin of victory was considered the highest among Bihar MPs in the 2019 polls.

The Madhubani seat has about 2.7 lakh Brahmins, 2.35 lakh Yadavs, 2.15 lakh Muslims, 6.10 lakh Extremely Backward, 2 lakh Dalits and 1.10 lakh Koeri.

Lok Sabha elections in Madhubani will take place on May 20, with results announced on June 4.
