Intense rainfall triggered severe flooding in Uttarkashi's Naugaon block on Saturday evening, inundating dozens of homes and shops. According to a report by The Times of India, several vehicles parked along the roadside were swept away. The downpour, which began around 5:15 pm, caused panic among residents.
The situation worsened after water and debris from the Devalsari and Naugaon gaderas (seasonal streams) surged through the town. As per the report, boulders and mud entered a residential building in Devalsari gadera, while a car, a mixer machine and two two-wheelers parked on the Yamunotri Highway were buried under debris.
As per the report, several buildings and vehicles were damaged. In the Syoori fruit belt, heavy rains caused extensive damage to residential colonies in the Nagar Panchayat area. Water entered half a dozen buildings, forcing families to evacuate.

The SDRF and local police advised residents near the gaderas to move immediately, warning that 10-12 houses were at risk after floodwaters weakened their foundations. As per the report, the floods also washed away sections of the motor road connecting the Syoori fruit belt and damaged Jal Sansthan's drinking water pipelines.
Due to the floods, apple orchards in the region also suffered losses. Vyapar Mandal president Jagdish Aswal was quoted by TOI as saying: "After years, such a fierce surge of both gaderas has been seen. Water and debris have entered shops and houses, causing extensive losses."
According to the report, district disaster management officer Shardul Gusain confirmed that heavy rainfall in Naugaon's upper reaches caused the sudden swelling of Muradi Khad, Naugaon Market Khad and Devalsari Khad.
"Debris from a damaged house also entered the Devalsari ravine," Gusain was quoted by TOI as saying. The revenue department, police, NDRF, SDRF, fire department and ambulance services were instructed to carry out relief and rescue operations and PWD was told to clear blocked roads and relocate affected families to safer locations.
