The incident, which occurred late on Friday night, was captured on camera and widely shared online. It shows an Alto car with a Jharkhand registration boldly manoeuvring alongside a stationary train on Platform No. 1, alarming passengers and forcing many to run for cover. Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) officers moved swiftly, detaining the accused, identified as Sandeep Dhaka, a resident of Baghpat and reportedly an army personnel.
According to sources quoted by The Indian Express, Dhaka was under the influence of alcohol at the time and reportedly claimed he was trying to help relatives board a train urgently due to a family medical emergency. Medical tests confirmed that he was intoxicated when arrested.
A statement issued by the official X handle of SP GRP Moradabad provided further clarity: “Due to the above acts by the accused youth army man Sandeep Dhaka, endangering the lives of passengers, a case was registered against the accused under Section 145(B)/147/154/159 of the Railway Act and Section 34 of the Police Act.” The vehicle and Dhaka’s driving licence were both seized, with railway police formally requesting the cancellation of his licence.
The episode ignited lively reactions across social media. One user quipped, “He really tried Uber direct to train seat,” while another sarcastically remarked, “Good job driver….Direct pickup from train.” These responses underscore the public’s disbelief at the unusual turn of events.
Live Mint further reported that the prompt action of passengers and law enforcement averted potential disaster. Superintendent of Police – Moradabad, GRP, confirmed via a social media post that GRP and RPF officers had taken necessary legal action and were continuing their investigation in line with the law.
