To promote Tamil tradition and local artists, the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has announced to organise cultural programmes, featuring traditional dance and music performances, at the Marina blue flag beach in Chennai every Sunday.

According to a report by The New Indian Express, this cultural programme on Sunday attracted large crowds, with more than 60 artistes presenting classical and folk art forms of dance, such as Bharatanatyam, Karagattam, Oyilattam, Mayilattam, Paraiattam, Villupattu, and traditional martial arts like Silambattam, among others.

Built to meet international ecotourism standards, the Marina blue flag beach has emerged as a venue to highlight Tamil Nadu’s cultural heritage, the GCC said in a release. The three-hour programme, which commenced at 6 pm, drew an enthusiastic response from visitors.
