Telangana police in Karimnagar on Wednesday arrested a woman, her lover, and his friend for the murder of her husband, Sampath.
The woman, Ramadevi, is alleged to have meticulously planned the crime after researching on YouTube, NDTV reported. The victim, Sampath, worked as a cleaner in a library. He was married to Ramadevi, and the couple had two children.
However, their marriage was far from peaceful. Sampath was addicted to alcohol and often returned home drunk, leading to frequent arguments with his wife.
To help make ends meet, Ramadevi ran a small snack shop. It was here that she met 50-year-old Karan Rajayya. Over time, their friendship allegedly turned into an illicit relationship.
According to police, Ramadevi eventually decided that she wanted to remove her husband from her life altogether.
According to the police, Ramadevi searched online for ways to commit murder and came across a YouTube video describing an unusual and deadly method, pouring pesticide into a person’s ear.
She shared the idea with Rajayya, and together they plotted the killing. Rajayya brought in his friend, Srinivas, to help execute the plan.
On the night of the crime, Rajayya and Srinivas called Sampath to meet them near the Bommakal flyover. They offered him alcohol, and after drinking heavily, Sampath lost consciousness.
At that point, Rajayya poured pesticide into his ear, killing him instantly. After the act, Rajayya allegedly called Ramadevi to tell her the job was done, the NDTV report said.
The next day, Ramadevi approached the police and filed a missing person’s complaint for her husband. On August 1, Sampath’s body was found.
Police began suspecting foul play after noticing that Ramadevi and Rajayya resisted the idea of a postmortem. Sampath’s son also expressed suspicion, urging authorities to investigate further.
Police traced call records, examined CCTV footage, and analysed location data.
The evidence pointed to Ramadevi, Rajayya, and Srinivas. Upon interrogation, all three allegedly confessed to their involvement in the murder. They have been arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
