In an unusual celebration of his divorce, a man from Assam’s Nalbari district bathed in 40 litres of milk while declaring his newfound freedom, a video of which has now gone viral on social media.

Manik Ali, a resident of Baraliyapar village under Mukalmua police station, was seen pouring bucket after bucket of milk over himself in a now widely shared clip. Wearing a white vest and blue jeans, he exclaimed, “I am free from today!” as the milk drenched him. The footage, originally posted by Instagram handle @zindagi.gulzar.h, has racked up over three million views, sparking both amusement and criticism online.

According to The Indian Express, Ali’s divorce followed a tumultuous marriage where his wife allegedly eloped with her lover twice. Reports from Northeast Live suggest he initially attempted reconciliation for the sake of their daughter, but his wife reportedly continued her extramarital affair and repeatedly abandoned the family.

The video drew mixed reactions, with one user applauding, “Good Relief From Toxic Relationship,” while another criticised the waste of milk, commenting, “This says all about the mindset of ppl where they think only n only about yourselves… god bless this guy.”

This isn’t the first time an over-the-top divorce celebration has grabbed attention. Last year, a man from Haryana threw an extravagant party, complete with wedding photos and divorce date displays, while cutting cakes with his family.
