A man’s public cry for help on social media has exposed a bitter family dispute in Karnataka, leading to his hospitalisation after an attempted suicide. The incident, reported by NDTV, unfolded within the limits of the Jayanagar Police Station.
Salman Pasha, who had recently returned to India after working as a hydraulic mechanic in Kuwait, broadcast the emotionally charged video on Facebook Live. In the stream, he levelled serious allegations of mental harassment against his wife, Syed Nikhath Firdose and her relatives. He specifically named Syed Burhan Uddin, the Tumakuru District President of the AIMIM party, accusing him of an illicit relationship with his wife and of pressuring him for money.
The couple reportedly married four years ago and initially lived together happily. The rift began after Salman went abroad for work while his wife was pregnant with their second child. Upon his departure, Nikhath is said to have moved back to her maternal home, after which disputes escalated. Salman further alleged in his video that he had been denied access to his two children since his return from Kuwait.
The situation was compounded, he claimed, by the police’s involvement. Salman accused the local women's police station of siding with his wife’s family and stated that he had previously been jailed on a false case filed against him. Shortly after making these allegations during the live broadcast, he attempted to take his own life. He was swiftly rushed to Tumakuru District Hospital, where he remains under treatment.
In the wake of the incident, Salman’s family has submitted a formal complaint to the Superintendent of Police’s office, demanding a fair investigation into his allegations.
His wife, however, has categorically denied all charges. Syed Nikhath Firdose characterised her husband’s actions as a calculated “drama.” She stated, “Earlier too, he had created drama by pretending to drink soap water, he has threatened to pour acid on me at my workplace. I had already filed a complaint about his threats. Now he is only trying to create drama to gain sympathy,” as cited by NDTV.
Local police authorities have confirmed that a comprehensive investigation is now underway. Officials stated that statements from all parties involved will be thoroughly verified before any further action is taken.
