The second-generation Hyundai Venue will debut in India on October 24. One of the most popular sub-4 metre compact SUVs in the market, the Hyundai Venue rivals the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, and Mahindra XUV 3XO.
The Venue is the second-largest selling Hyundai model in India after the Creta. While the Creta contributes 36% to Hyundai volumes, the Venue has a share of around 17%.
Model | FY25 Sales |
Hyundai Venue | 1,19,113 units |
Maruti Suzuki Brezza | 1,89,163 units |
Maruti Suzuki Fronx | 1,66,216 units |
Tata Nexon | 1,63,089 units |
Mahindra XUV 3XO | 1,00,921 units |
Kia Sonet | 99,805 units |
In its second-generation avatar, the Venue is expected to come with a complete design overhaul. We can expect a new set of headlights, DRLs and taillights. The SUV will drive on a new set of alloy wheels as well. On the outside, the Venue has always looked very sporty for the segment it is based in. However, its cabin is expected to get a major update.
A lot of buyers have raised concerns regarding the Venue's cabin being relatively less spacious. We expect Hyundai to address this concern with the new-generation avatar. Also, you can expect a new layout for the dashboard and upholstery. There will be new screens as well, both for the infotainment and driver display.
We also expect the new Venue to get Level-2 ADAS and a panoramic sunroof. Some of the rivals in this segment already have these features, and Hyundai is one carmaker that has never shied away from offering more features in its cars.
At present, the Venue has three engine options -- 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol (83PS and 113.8Nm), 1.0-litre Kappa Turbo GDi petrol (120PS and 172Nm) and 1.5-litre U2 CRDi VGT diesel (116PS and 250Nm).
The transmission options include 5-speed MT with 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, 6-speed MT and 7-speed DCT with 1.0-litre Turbo GDi petrol engine, and 6-speed MT with 1.5-litre diesel engine.
We expect these powertrains to continue in the new Venue. However, the company might consider offering an additional automatic transmission option.
While the present Hyundai Venue is priced between Rs 7,94,100 and Rs 13,52,600 (ex-showroom), the new Hyundai Venue price in India is expected to be higher, considering all the upgrades it will get.
