It's raining jobs at IIMs, ISB; avg salaries beat 2009

The placement season has been a promising one for premier management institute-Indian Institute of Management (IIM) graduates.

IIM-Bangalore has placed 100% of its students in five days and saw a 41% increase in slot zero placements. Recruiters include Mckinsey, Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Company, AT Kearney, Nomura, and Temasek Holdings, reports CNBC-TV18's Vineetha Athrey.

About 27% of the offers came from the banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) sector, 22% from consulting, 20% from the information technology and systems, and 12% from the marketing segment.

According to CNBC-TV18's Kritika Saxena, IIM Kozhikode placed all 300 students within two weeks. Manufacturing, consulting, and banking were the top recruiters. Sources say the average salary package stands at Rs 14 lakh per year, an increase of 24% since last year. The highest salary package came in at Rs 50 lakh per year, a 46% rise year-on-year. Consulting emerged the largest recruiter with 30% of offers.

Sources say IIM Calcutta has placed 260 students by day four. It expects to complete placements by Wednesday. The average domestic salary so far is around Rs 16-17 lakh per year. Telecom, retail, FMCG majors offered jobs on days three and four, they added.

Around 410 students were offered jobs at Indian School of Business (ISB), sources stated. The highest salary package was around Rs 90-95 lakh. Investment banking and consulting emerged the largest recruiters there. From investment banking, Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan offered jobs. BCG and McKinsey offered the largest jobs from consulting.  Cognizant, Accenture, IBM, and Infosys were among the IT recruiters. Pepsi, Hindustan Unilever, and Bain Capital were among the other recruiters.
