Nifty hit a fresh record high at 26,310, extending its sharp recovery to 19% from the April tariff-tantrum lows, while the Sensex also crossed the 86,000 mark as markets touched new peaks. After Wednesday’s strong breakout, the index moved into a consolidation phase, with media, financial services and private banks leading the day’s gains even as oil & gas, realty and consumer durables weighed on sectoral performance. The broader market remained mixed, with midcaps largely flat and smallcaps underperforming. Global cues are expected to stay muted as the US markets remain shut for the Thanksgiving holiday.
