If you’ve been waiting for a sign to explore one of India’s most breathtaking natural wonders—this is it. The Valley of Flowers National Park in Uttarakhand officially opened for the 2025 season on June 1 and will remain accessible till October 31, weather permitting. This UNESCO World Heritage Site invites trekkers, nature lovers, and photographers to witness a spectacle like no other.
Nestled in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, the valley is famed for its alpine meadows blanketed with over 600 species of wildflowers, misty trails, snow-draped Himalayan peaks, and the rare chance to walk through a living canvas of colour. Whether you're an avid trekker or a soul in search of serenity, the Valley of Flowers is your answer.
What is the Valley of Flowers?
Located at an altitude of about 3,658 meters in the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve, the Valley of Flowers is a high-altitude Himalayan valley known for its rare flora and fauna. Every monsoon, this remote paradise bursts into bloom with poppies, orchids, primulas, marigolds, daisies, and more. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005, it’s not just a visual treat—it’s a spiritual experience.
This valley is also home to endangered species such as the Asiatic black bear, snow leopard, musk deer, and Himalayan monal. If you're lucky, you might spot a rare butterfly fluttering alongside your trail.

Best Time to Visit the Valley of Flowers in 2025
While the park opens on June 1, 2025, the best time to see the valley in full bloom is mid-July to early September. During this period, monsoon rains awaken a surreal spread of wildflowers. Avoid visiting after late September as the flora begins to wilt and trails can become slippery.
