The much-anticipated opening of this Immigration Check Post (ICP) was celebrated on November 7, 2024, with the presence of Bhutan's Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay and Assam's Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya.

This significant development follows the agreement made during the visit of Bhutan’s King to India in November 2023. The newly inaugurated checkpoint at Darranga, Tamulpur, Assam, connects with Samdrup Jongkhar, facilitating smoother cross-border tourism and better connectivity.
