Daily travel between Delhi and Meerut is about to get faster, smarter, and more seamless than ever. The long-awaited Namo Bharat and Meerut Metro are finally in their last trial phase, and once launched, they promise to transform commuting across the 82 km corridor.

Namo Bharat: Semi-High-Speed Travel at 160 kmph

Part of the Delhi–Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), Namo Bharat is designed to cover the full stretch from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut in just 55 minutes. For shorter routes, the ride is even quicker—Delhi to Meerut South will take barely 30 minutes.

  • Top speed: 160 kmph
  • Frequency: Every 10 minutes
  • Timings: 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM (weekdays and Saturdays); 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM (Sundays)
  • First service: From Meerut South at 6:00 AM
  • Last service: From Modinagar North at 10:48 PM

With sleek coaches, modern stations, and zero traffic hassles, the Namo Bharat is set to be a game-changer for students, office-goers, and daily commuters.

Meerut Metro: India’s First Integrated Intercity–Urban Corridor

Running alongside Namo Bharat on a 23 km shared stretch with 13 stations, the Meerut Metro will be the fastest metro system in India, operating at speeds of up to 120 kmph.

  • Frequency: Every 7 minutes
  • Travel time across city route: About 30 minutes
  • Same platform transfer: Passengers can switch between Namo Bharat and the Metro without walking long distances
  • Single ticket system: One ticket covers both services

This seamless integration ensures that whether you’re commuting between cities or within Meerut, you won’t need extra tickets or time-consuming transfers.

Safety & Technology at Par with Global Standards

Both services will be operated through a centralised Operation Control Centre (OCC) equipped with cutting-edge European Train Control System (ETCS) Level-2 technology—making India the first country in the world to deploy this for such a network.

Safety is assured through Automatic Train Protection (ATP) to regulate safe speeds and Automatic Train Supervision (ATS) to ensure punctuality and smooth functioning. With platform screen doors, LTE-based connectivity, and modern infrastructure, passenger comfort and safety are top priorities.

Why It Matters

  • Time saved: 55 minutes for Delhi–Meerut vs. hours by road
  • High frequency: Metro every 7 minutes, Namo Bharat every 10 minutes
  • Affordable travel: Single ticketing system across both services
  • Comfort & connectivity: Modern stations, integrated platforms, and stress-free journeys
When Will It Start?

While the official launch date has not yet been announced, authorities have confirmed that both the Namo Bharat and Meerut Metro are in the final trial stage. Once operations begin, this corridor will redefine daily travel for thousands, offering faster, reliable, and world-class connectivity between Delhi and Meerut.

With road congestion and long commutes becoming history, the question now is—are you ready to board the future of travel?
