Exclusive - Bhavya Gandhi is not returning to Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, makers say 'our current Tapu is doing well'

In an exclusive conversation with Moneycontrol, makers of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah dismissed the reports of Bhavya Gandhi returning to show as Tapu.

Over the weekend there were several reports that Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is going to witness the return of OG Tapu played by Bhavya Gandhi. Fans went into an overdrive but the makers have now issued a statement and said there is no truth to it.

Moneycontrol going in touch with officials from Neela Film Productions, the creative mind behind Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and they told us exclusively: "Baat mein koi dum hi nahi hai. The current Tapu is doing very well and he is being loved by all. Our show is doing good, certain news are just getting circulated to get some views."

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is produced by Asit Kumar Modi and has been on air for the past 18 years.

Bhavya Gandhi played the young Tapu when the show began to air in 2008.

Makers also said that the new Tapu played by Nitish Bhaluni, who has replaced Raj Anadkat earlier. Raj had joined the show after Bhavya's exit in 2017.

Neela Film Productions has now released an official statement, which reads:

"We would like to clarify that the reports suggesting Bhavya Gandhi’s return to Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah are completely untrue. The recent buzz around his comeback is purely speculative and aimed at creating unwarranted gossip.

Such rumours often circulate, and we urge viewers and members of the media to avoid giving them attention. Our current Tapu, Nitish Bhaluni, is doing a fantastic job, and audiences have been wholeheartedly appreciating his performance and energy on screen.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, created and produced by Asit Kumarr Modi under Neela Film Productions, continues to entertain and connect with audiences across generations.

We truly value the love, nostalgia, and unwavering support that fans continue to express for the show and its characters. We would also like to reiterate that any official announcements regarding the cast will be made solely through Neela Film Productions.

Bhavya Gandhi dismisses it as 'rumours' 

We contacted Bhavya Gandhi over phone and he said: 'It’s is a rumour. Nothing's true.'

"I don't know where this is coming from. I will be a part of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma for my Gujarati movie promotions only. Whether I will or not be a part is a part of the future. I don't know where this news is coming from. For now I am focusing on my Gujarati movies," he told us.

Bhavya Gandhi left the show in 2017 and was a part of the show for nine long years.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one of Hindi television’s most popular and longest-running sitcoms. It has recently added a new family to the show as well.

A new Rajasthani family also joined the Gokuldham Society during the show's 17 year anniversary celebrations.

Asit Kumar Modi has created and produced Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and it ran its first episode on Sony SAB in July 2008.

Since then many actors have left the show and many new faces have been added.
