Commenting on Kumaraswamy turning emotional, Sadananda Gowda had cautioned people against the 'flood of tears.'

The matter pertains to the alleged illegal denotification of three acres and 34 guntas of land in Halage Vaderahalli village here. One acre is equal to 40 guntas of land.

Kumaraswamy is currently on a visit to US to take part in the groundbreaking ceremony of Vokkaliga community's Kalabhairaveshwara temple, and will conclude his trip on July 5 after addressing a convention of Vokkaligas Parishath.

Alleging that the BJP during the last one year had made several attempts to topple the government, he said they would not be successful.

He also said the challenge before him was to take the administration close to the people in a way that they should repent about their decision not to support Congress-JD(S) alliance in the Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing a public meeting at a village in Ramanagara on June 18, Kumaraswamy had said relentless efforts have been made to pull down the government and he knew who have been behind it.

He was speaking at the first meeting of the Governing Council of Niti Aayog chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi here.

At present, the states are entitled to get compensation for the first five years since the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in 2017, that is till 2022.

Kumaraswamy said misinformation was being spread in the state that there is a deadline to avail of the benefit, "causing panic among farmers".

JD(S) had recently claimed the BJP had approached many of its MLAs and Congress in an attempt to destabilise the government.

The Chief Minister alleged that certain "kingpins" had been roped in to topple his government.

The delegation also apprised the prime minister of the prevailing drought-like situation in 17 of the total 30 districts in the state.

The Karnataka government has sought the Central Water Commission's clearance of the feasibility report on the proposed Mekedatu reservoir.
