At most companies, you get rewarded for hitting targets or wrapping up big projects. But at Cluely, a US-based AI startup, you can now earn a bonus simply by helping a teammate find love.
Yes, you read that right. The company’s CEO, Chungin Lee, just announced a brand-new policy: employees who successfully set up a colleague on a date will get a cash bonus of $500—that’s around Rs 43,000.
"If any employee refers a date for another employee (that they are happy with), the referring employee will receive a one-time cash bonus of $500," Lee wrote in a company-wide message. The best part? It’s not a one-time thing. The reward keeps stacking up for every successful match you make.
So let’s say Ben helps Neel find someone to date, and then goes on to set up Brandon as well—Ben pockets $1,000 in total. All you need is to play Cupid, and the company does the rest.
Cluely isn’t your average startup, though. Its tagline is “We want to cheat on everything.” The company has built an AI meeting assistant that whispers real-time tips during job interviews, sales calls, and even first dates. It recently raised $15 million from a top venture capital firm, and is already turning heads with its bold, offbeat ideas.
Now, with this dating referral bonus, Cluely is blurring the line between work and personal life even more. The message is clear: love is serious business here and apparently, a bonus-worthy one too.
