Reliance Jio is reportedly working on a new VR headset at an affordable price segment. The Information has reported that the telecom service provider is working with Meta to come up with a new VR headset based on the Horizon OS.
This will be the second VR headset from the company as the company has already launched its JioDive VR headset which is mainly aimed at an entry-level segment and relies solely on the phone as the display.
The updated VR headset in partnership with Meta is likely to come with a dedicated display. However, as per the report, nothing has been finalised as of now.
Jio ecosystem
Reliance is already inclined towards creating a Jio ecosystem by adding more products, features, and services to the portfolio. For instance, the company already offers a range of Jio services like JioCloud, JioCall, etc. Apart from that, the company has a JioTag, JioMotive and its own smart home platform. Apart from these, Jio has a Jio Laptop and is already planning to introduce cloud-based PCs to offer users more convenience.
Not the first Meta-Jio partnership
Meta and Jio have already come together to bring up several features and services. For instance, the companies came together to bring e-commerce services on WhatsApp.
For VR headsets, it only makes sense considering Meta already makes some premium VR headsets with its entire Quest lineup.
