Visonary game designer Hideo Kojima’s open-world action-adventure game Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is ready to launch on PlayStation 5. The sequel to 2019’s Death Stranding has a confirmed release date of June 26, 2025, Kojima Productions revealed. The game also got a 10-minute long pre-order trailer. Hideo Kojima himself confirmed the release date during the 2025 South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas.
The second game in the Death Stranding storyline features Norman Reedus’ Sam Porter Bridges once again, as he tries to save humankind from extinction. The events in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach take place 11 months after the birth of the UCA and feature “an inspiring mission of human connection beyond the UCA”.
The third-person action game comes with a fresh set of challenges for Sam in its open world. It is “beset by otherworldly enemies and obstacles. A haunting question remains: 'should we have connected?”
Returning for Death Stranding 2 with Norman Reedus are Léa Seydoux (Fragile) and Troy Baker (Higgs). The actors will be joined by Elle Fanning (Tomorrow), Shioli Kutsuna (Rainy) and Academy Award-winner George Miller (Tarman).
The Death Stranding 2 trailer also teased a probable Metal Gear connection in the form of Italian actor Luca Marinelli’s game character, Neil. In the trailer, we see Neil putting on a bandana like Solid Snake and leading a team of soldiers. The pre-order trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach also showcased some of the gameplay; Sam will be doing some walking once again, so be prepared to slow down as you embark on the new missions.
