Apple has announced the date for its first big in-person event – Worldwide Developers Conference, also known as WWDC25. The event is scheduled to start on June 9. At the event, the iPhone maker is expected to make several new announcements, and as always, the company will introduce the next-generation of the operating systems. These will include the iOS 19 alongside the next iPadOS, macOS, visionOS, tvOS and watchOS. Here’s everything we expect from Apple at the WWDC 25 event.

Apple Intelligence will enter into the next phase

While the announcement is expected to be around the operating systems. The key highlight of the event will be new features getting added to Apple Intelligence. What we know so far is that Apple will introduce improvements to the existing AI features on iPhone, iPad, Mac and other devices.

Alongside this, Apple is also expected to add new features to the Apple Intelligence. Apple’s iOS 19 is set to enhance AI capabilities, expanding on Apple Intelligence introduced in iOS 18. Siri is expected to gain advanced personalisation, onscreen awareness, and deeper app integration, enabling it to track emails, messages, and files while performing contextual actions based on screen content.

Apple is also rumoured to be working on a large language model (LLM) version of Siri to rival ChatGPT, though its launch may be delayed to iOS 20. AI-driven improvements could extend to Apple Music, enabling smart playlist generation. Additionally, AirPods are expected to support live translation for real-time multilingual conversations, utilising the iPhone’s Translate app.

These updates align with Apple’s gradual rollout strategy, where AI-powered features will be introduced progressively rather than all at once. While iOS 19’s AI innovations promise enhanced user experiences, many features may arrive in later updates, reflecting Apple’s shift towards a more flexible development cycle rather than annual feature-packed releases.

Design overhaul

iOS 19 will introduce a major design overhaul, aligning with visionOS aesthetics. The update will bring a more transparent, glassy, and rounded interface, affecting icons, menus, apps, and system buttons. Apple aims to create a unified cross-platform experience across iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. The redesigned UI will feature floating elements, translucent pop-out menus, and a focus on simplifying navigation. Apps like Camera and Messages will adopt a more immersive layout with rounded buttons and a softer appearance. Apple’s recent apps, such as Invites and Apple Sports, hint at this design shift, emphasising content with enhanced visual depth.

All other changes

iOS 19 will introduce expanded Apple Intelligence features, enhancing Siri’s capabilities with personal context, onscreen awareness, and deeper app integration. A new AirPods feature will enable real-time language translation through the Translate app. Apple is also working on a chatbot-style Siri powered by large language models, though its release may be delayed to iOS 20. Additionally, Apple may shift to a staggered feature rollout, delaying several iOS 19 functions to 2026. The update will support all iPhones running iOS 18, with some features limited to newer models. iOS 19 will be previewed at WWDC 2025 and launch in September.
