OPPO appears ready to shake things up in its popular Reno lineup with a new compact smartphone that could soon launch in India. According to 91Mobiles report, the company is preparing to introduce the Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini, marking the first time a “mini” model joins the Reno series. The move signals OPPO’s entry into the growing compact phone segment, at a time when many users are once again looking for smaller, easier-to-handle devices.
The Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini is expected to focus on compactness without losing the premium design language the Reno series is known for. Sources say the phone will feature a 6.32-inch AMOLED display, which by today’s standards firmly places it in the compact category. Despite the smaller footprint, the phone is said to weigh around 187 grams and measure just 7.99mm in thickness. It is also tipped to come with very slim bezels of about 1.6mm, giving it a modern, edge-to-edge look.
In terms of design, OPPO seems to be experimenting once again. The Reno 15 Pro Mini is expected to arrive in a Glacier White colour option with a distinctive ribbon-style design on the back. This finish is said to be exclusive to the white variant. The phone will reportedly feature a glass back, keeping in line with the Reno lineup’s premium feel.
Durability could be another strong point. The upcoming phone is expected to support IP66, IP67 and IP69 ratings, suggesting strong resistance to dust and water, something that is still not common in mid-range smartphones.
There had been some confusion earlier around which Reno 15 model would be compact. Initial leaks suggested a Reno 15 Mini, while later reports hinted that the standard Reno 15 itself could be smaller. This latest information now clearly points to a Reno 15 Pro Mini instead. Interestingly, OPPO has already launched the Reno 15 and Reno 15 Pro in China, but there was no Pro Mini variant announced there. This suggests the compact model could be designed for select global markets, including India.
While full specifications are still under wraps, earlier leaks suggest that OPPO may use a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset for global markets, unlike the China models that run on MediaTek’s Dimensity 8450. The phone is also tipped to pack a large 6,500mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging, along with a triple rear camera setup that may include a 50MP telephoto lens.
OPPO’s decision to launch a compact Reno phone reflects a wider industry trend. After years of phones getting bigger and heavier, brands like OnePlus and Vivo have recently shown renewed interest in smaller form factors. With the Reno 15 Pro Mini, OPPO seems keen to tap into this growing demand for compact yet premium smartphones.
