Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu is all set to tie the knot with IT professional Venkata Datta Sai. The wedding will take place in Udaipur on December 22 in the presence of close friends and family. It will be followed with a grand reception, which will take place in Hyderabad.

On Saturday, Sindhu dropped the first photo of her engagement with Venkata. She shared the photo of the couple and used a quote by Kahlil Gibran as the caption. "When love beckons to you, follow him, for love gives naught but itself,” it read. In addition, Sindhu also mentioned 2024 to infinity, using the emoticon in her caption.

The post received love from her colleague Tanisha Crasto, who was part of the Indian badminton contingent at the Paris Olympics 2024. "Congratulations didiii (followed by heart emoticons)" wrote Crasto in the comment section. Thai badminton player Ratchanok Intanon also celebrated the moment and wrote "really happy for you" in her comment.

Meanwhile, Bollywood star Neha Dhupia and ex-India spinner Pragyan Ojha among others also celebrated the moment and showed love by commenting on the post.

Sindhu's father, PV Ramana had earlier mentioned that the families knew each other from past but everything was decided in November. "The two families knew each other but it was only a month ago that everything was finalised. This was the only possible window as her schedule will be hectic from January," Sindhu's father had told PTI earlier this month. "So that is the reason the two families decided to have the marriage ceremony on December 22. The reception will be held in Hyderabad on December 24. She will start her training soon after as the next season is going to be important," he added.

Sindhu, who was going through a lean patch, won the women's singles title at the Syed Modi International Championships 2024 in Lucknow last month. The win marked an end to Sindhu's almost two-year title-drought.
