Neeraj Chopra finally shattered the 90m barrier with a stunning 90.23m throw, yet it wasn’t enough to secure victory, as Germany’s Julian Weber stole the spotlight with a sensational final-round effort of 91.06m at the Doha leg of the Diamond League on Friday.
The gripping men’s javelin showdown saw Chopra, a double Olympic medallist, unleash his best throw in the third round, joining an elite club of athletes — including his coach, Czech legend Jan Zelezny — who have crossed the prestigious 90m mark.

With this milestone, the 27-year-old became only the third Asian and 25th athlete in history to breach the 90m threshold. The other two Asians to have done so are Pakistan’s Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem (92.97m) and Chinese Taipei’s Chao-Tsun Cheng (91.36m).
