Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjeev Goenka was left awestruck by Rishabh Pant's stunning performance in the Headingley Test against England. The young wicketkeeper-batter, who is also India's new vice-captain, delivered a sensational show with the bat—smashing 134 off 178 balls in the first innings and following it up with a blistering 118 off 140 in the second.
Former LSG captain KL Rahul also rose to the occasion, scoring a brilliant century in India’s second innings, which they began with a slender lead of just six runs. Goenka extended his congratulations to Rahul as well, acknowledging his crucial knock at Leeds.

Pant's remarkable comeback in the Headingley Test comes on the heels of a disappointing IPL season, where he managed just 269 runs in 14 matches, and LSG failed to reach the playoffs.
After an underwhelming IPL campaign, LSG owner Sanjeev Goenka was full of praise for Pant’s twin centuries in the Test match. He lauded Pant’s performance, calling it aggressive, audacious, and brilliant display of batting.
“Two good! Back-to-back centuries for @RishabhPant17. Aggressive, audacious, brilliant. Only the second wicketkeeper in history to score a century in both innings of a Test,” wrote the LSG boss.
“Congratulations also to @klrahul for his hundred. #INDvsENG,” added Goenka on his post.
Interestingly, Goenka's post triggered a meme fest on social media. Here is the post and reactions of fans...

The dynamic between Sanjeev Goenka and KL Rahul took a downturn during IPL 2024, when cameras captured an intense on-field exchange between the LSG owner and the then-captain following a crushing defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad. The incident sparked widespread speculation and ultimately led to Rahul being released by Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Interestingly, Rahul, who represented Delhi Capitals in the 2025 season, appeared to snub Goenka after a match earlier this year—a moment that was also caught on camera and quickly made headlines.
