Mohsin Naqvi reportedly has apologized to India for taking away Asia Cup 2025 trophy

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi has reportedly apologised to BCCI for taking away the Asia Cup 2025 trophy away from the Dubai International Stadium on September 28 after Suryakumar Yadav's side won the final against Pakistan. IndiaToday on Wednesday (October 1) reported that the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman has apologised for his actions but has stayed adamant on not giving the winners' medals and trophy.

After beating Pakistan in the Asia Cup final on Sunday, India refused to collect the trophy and medals from Naqvi. The ACC chief in reply refused to give India players their mementos and ordered the ACC officials to take the trophy away from the ground.

The reports also suggest that he demanded India captain Suryakumar Yadav to come to Dubai in order to collect the trophy to which BCCI responded, "He didn't collect the trophy when you were there in front of him, you think he will come now?"

BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla and Ashish Shelar attended the ACC meeting and cornered Naqvi following the trophy saga.

The trophy drama has added more fuel to the already strained relationship between the two nations. It has overshadowed India's on-field win in the Asia Cup.

Earlier, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia revealed on Sunday night after India won the Asia Cup trophy that the Indian team cannot "accept a trophy from a person" who represents a country that is "waging a war against our country".

Speaking to ANI, Saikia said that team India decided not to take the trophy from Naqvi.

He also reacted strongly to Naqvi's act of taking away the trophy and medals with him. Saikia stated that during the International Cricket Council (ICC) Conference in November, a "serious and strong" protest would be launched against Naqvi.
