Success has a way of sparking ambition, and for 26-year-old Gujarat wicketkeeper-batter Urvil Patel, it's no different. Patel stunned the cricketing world with a record-breaking century in T20 cricket by an Indian, smashing a ton off just 28 balls (fastest). Barely a week later, he repeated his heroics, scoring another century in 36 balls against Uttarakhand. However, despite his red-hot form, Patel remains unsigned by an IPL team—for now. One can't help but wonder how long before the franchises take notice.

Patel, striving to fulfill his father Mukesh's cricketing dreams, has been lighting up the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) with his extraordinary performances. He became the first player in T20 history to score two centuries in under 40 balls, showcasing exceptional talent.

Patel delivered a record-breaking performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, smashing the fastest T20 century by an Indian.

He achieved the milestone against Tripura in Indore, remaining unbeaten with a blazing 113 off just 35 balls, including seven fours and 12 sixes at a strike rate of 322.86. Patel's explosive innings powered Gujarat to chase down a 156-run target in just 10.2 overs, securing an eight-wicket victory.

When asked if he wished the IPL auction was after the Syed Mushtaq Ali, he replied, "100 per cent, because for everyone Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy is the pathway to the IPL. But we can't do anything about it, it's not in our hands. But yeah there was a thought that it would have been great if the auction could have been pushed back a bit," Patel told IndiaTv News.
