The Mumbai Indians (MI) secured the final playoff spot in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) with a spectacular victory over the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday. Suryakumar Yadav was declared the player of the match for his decisive 73* off 44 balls but what he did next saw him receive massive love from fans. He made a really endearing gesture for broadcaster Harsha Bhogle as he appeared for the post-match interview.
As the intensity of rain increased at a roaring Wankhede Stadium, Suryakumar offered to share the umbrella with Bhogle, and the broadcaster happily obliged. After 13 matches in IPL 2025 without the award, he finally held the trophy in his hand as Bhogle began the interview.

Suryakumar dug deep and steered Mumbai's ship forward after a troubled start. He unleashed a blitz after 18 overs, when Mumbai was battling at 132/5. With strong lofts and late flicks, his undefeated 73 came to life during a 57-run partnership with Naman Dhir, which also saw the duo combine to add 48 in the final two overs.
“Was important for a single batter to bat till the end,” SKY said. “We knew there was one over of 15–20 runs somewhere, so we had to wait till the end. The way Naman came in and shared that energy with me was also a turning point.”
The Delhi Capitals, who needed a win to remain alive in the playoff race, collapsed for 121 in response. Jasprit Bumrah (3/12) and Mitchell Santner (3/11) helped Mumbai win by 59 runs and earn their 11th playoffs berth, the most of any side in IPL history.
Despite all the tremendous hits and wickets the moment when SKY shared the umbrella with Bhogle was an instant hit with the fans. As expected a late-night shower arrived shortly after the match was over. Even during the course of the match a light drizzle was experienced but it didn't hamper the contest.

Mumbai will now attempt to sneak into the top two after qualifying for the playoffs. The five-time champions lock horns with Punjab Kings in their final league match in Jaipur on May 26. The top-4 lineup is set, with PBKS also earning a playoffs berth. The other two teams that earned playoffs spots are Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
