Life doesn’t always have a smooth start. For Paige Brooks, it was a path filled with obstacles that would have broken many. She left school at 13, faced the unimaginable pain of losing her father at 15, and by 16, she was pregnant.
Today, at just 23, she is a mother of three and the founder of a business empire now valued at over Rs 4.5 crore. But her story isn't really about the money; it's about the community she is building from a place of understanding and heartbreak.
Growing up, Paige knew what it felt like to have nowhere safe to turn. After her father, who was her only real friend, died in a motorbike accident, she was lost. “My younger self honestly didn’t think I’d make it past 16,” she said.
This feeling of being alone led her to stay in "really horrible relationships because I didn’t have anyone else. I didn’t have anywhere else to go." She knew the deep, aching loneliness of having no one to talk to and no safe place to call home.
At her lowest point, living in a hostel with her first child, a small opportunity appeared. After an argument with an ex-boyfriend left her with a broken TV, she used a leftover gift card to buy a Cricut machine. Curious, she started learning how to make personalised drinkware.
What began as a small hobby "just blew up." This was the birth of her main business, Behind the Trend. It wasn't a grand plan to get rich; it was simply a step forward. At first, she said, "I didn’t start it to sell to people. I started it to make friends." That genuine desire for connection became the foundation for a venture that would grow into a six-figure success in just five years.
As her business grew, Paige never forgot the feeling of being unsafe and alone. Her own experiences with bullying and bad relationships showed her how much women needed a place to connect and support each other.
This vision led her to start hosting women-only events, creating nights where hundreds could come together in their pyjamas to watch movies or enjoy a spa night. It was all about building a community.
Her biggest dream was to create a physical safe space for everyone who felt like she once did. She found an old gym and began transforming it. "The whole plan was always for it to feel homely," she explained. "So many women are lonely, and so many children don’t have a safe person."
When Paige looks at her life now—a thriving business, a beautiful family, and a community that adores her—she sometimes has to stop and think. "If that younger Paige could see me now, she'd be in shock," she said in the interview.
For her, success isn't about the fancy car or the money in the bank. It’s about the feeling of safety and the ability to help others. It’s about seeing a little kid’s face light up or knowing a woman has found a friend.
