Cricket superstar Virat Kohli has turned legendary singer Kishore Kumar’s former Juhu bungalow, Gouri Kunj, into an outlet for his high-end restaurant, One8 Commune. The Mumbai outlet, which opened in 2022, is now making waves online for its eclectic menu and celebrity connection, Times of India reported.
Set in the heart of Juhu, the restaurant pays homage to Kumar, whom Kohli has long admired. The cricketer, in a video tour with actor Manish Paul, called the singer “charismatic” and shared personal anecdotes about food, music, and the space’s transformation.
The name One8 Commune references Kohli’s jersey number 18, prominently displayed inside the restaurant, linking his cricket legacy with his hospitality venture. The interiors feature a glass roof and sunlit ambience, designed to welcome “every community,” Kohli said.
Menu reflects Kohli’s lifestyle—and premium pricing
The menu includes plant-based meat, and seafood options, with a dedicated section titled Virat’s favourites, featuring tofu steak, mushroom dumplings with truffle oil, and superfood salad. Kohli, who adopted a vegetarian lifestyle in recent years, said food quality remains the restaurant’s top priority.
According to Zomato, steamed rice at the eatery is priced at Rs 318, salted fries at Rs 348, tandoori roti or baby naan at Rs 118, and mascarpone cheesecake at Rs 748. Pet food is also available, priced between Rs 518 and Rs 818.
Expanding across the country
The Juhu outlet is Kohli’s latest addition to the One8 Commune chain, which already has locations in Delhi, Kolkata, and Pune. The Mumbai launch marks a significant step in expanding his footprint in India’s premium dining space.
