On a night when the Chennai Super Kings edged past the Kolkata Knight Riders by two wickets, it was Dewald Brevis’s explosive 52 off 25 balls and Noor Ahmad’s decisive spell that stole the show on the field. However, it was MS Dhoni’s post-match gesture that truly left a lasting impression on many.
As always, Dhoni took part in the customary post-match handshakes, shortly after sealing the chase with a trademark six in the final over. He smiled warmly and exchanged greetings with the KKR players before making his way back to the CSK dugout, accompanied by Kamboj.
But just then, Dhoni suddenly paused. Known for his sharp eye and attention to detail, he realized he had missed someone. Without hesitation, he turned around and made his way back through the line of players, walking with quiet purpose toward Chetan Sakariya. The KKR pacer had been unintentionally overlooked in the post-match exchanges, standing a few paces behind the main group.
Dhoni reached out, greeted Sakariya personally, and shared a moment that reminded everyone why he is admired as much for his character as for his cricket.
Dhoni extended his hand, gave him a strong handshake, and gave him a light pat on the back. Sakariya was pleasantly surprised and smiled as he gave the gesture back. Fans applauded the former India captain's humility and composure on social media during the brief moment that was captured on camera.

Dhoni had earlier completed CSK's run-chase in front of a packed Eden Gardens, many of whom had been wearing the yellow jersey. The fans roared as he hit a stunning six off Andre Russell in the final over, which may have been his final on-field display at the legendary stadium. He insisted that he has "6 to 8 months" to be ready for the next season and make a decision regarding his future, but he did not completely rule out the prospect of returning to the IPL next year.

The entire evening had revolved around CSK's wild chase of 180, during which they were 60/5. Before Dhoni arrived late to lead the frantic finish, left-hander Shivam Dube contributed a vital 45 from 40 deliveries, while Dewald Brevis turned the tide of the chase with a vicious 25-ball 52.
