14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi started his Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 career with a bang for the Rajasthan Royals. Everyone's jaws dropped when he hit a six off the first ball he faced in his debut match. Against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the subsequent match, the teenage wonder hit 16 runs, including two sixes. However, former India batsman Virender Sehwag has now issued a new warning to the youngster.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi should not be satisfied with playing 1-2 games for the Rajasthan Royals; instead, he should strive to play in the IPL for many more years, according to the India great. Additionally, he encouraged the young player to emulate Virat Kohli.

Suryavanshi attempted to take the game on from ball No. 1 in both of the games against the RCB and the Lucknow Super Giants, but he never once looked to get his eye in.

"If you step out knowing that you will get praised for doing well and criticised for not doing well, you will remain grounded. I have seen many players who come and get fame from one or two matches, then do not do anything because they think that they have become a star player," Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.

"Suryavanshi must aim to play for 20 years in the IPL. Look at Virat Kohli; he started playing when he was 19 years old, and now he has played all 18 seasons. That is what he should be trying to emulate. But, if he is happy with this IPL, thinking that he is now a crorepati, had a great debut, hit a six off the first ball, maybe we won't see him next year," he added.

Bihar native Vaibhav Suryavanshi was listed at the mega auction with a base price of Rs 30 lakh. He was later acquired by the Rajasthan Royals for Rs 1.10 crore. Then, he became the youngest player ever selected in the auction, breaking the previous record.

In the IPL 2025 season, Suryavanshi had to wait eight games to make his debut. After Sanju Samson was ruled out with a side strain, Suryavanshi played against the Lucknow Super Giants.

Against the Lucknow Super Giants, Suryavanshi scored 34 runs off 20 balls. On the first ball he faced from Shardul Thakur, the left-handed batter hit a massive six. After faltering against RCB at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the Rajasthan Royals lost their sixth straight game and are currently sluggishly occupying eighth spot in the standings.
