'Yuvraj Singh can make Sachin's son next Chris Gayle': Yograj Singh makes bold claim on Arjun Tendulkar

Yograj Singh believes that if Arjun Tendulkar works with the two-time World Cup winner Yuvraj Singh, he could become the next Chris Gayle of international cricket.

Yuvraj Singh's father, Yograj Singh, is known for his outrageous remarks, and the former India cricketer has once again made headlines. He has claimed that Arjun Tendulkar, son of the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, could become the next Chris Gayle if he is taken under the wing of Yuvraj.

Arjun trained with Yograj in 2023 after switching his Ranji Trophy team from Mumbai to Goa. At that time, Sachin requested Yograj to train his son, and the move paid off — the youngster smashed a century on his Ranji debut.

Interestingly, while Yuvraj may not be in the news for his own cricketing performances nowadays, Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill certainly are. The duo openly credit Yuvi for their success, as the former cricketer has spent a lot of time mentoring them.

Yuvraj’s father, Yograj, believes that if Arjun decides to work with the two-time World Cup winner, he could become the next Chris Gayle of international cricket.

"With regards to Arjun, I said, focus less on his bowling and more on his batting. But if Yuvraj – he and Sachin are so close – takes Sachin's son under his wings for three months, I bet he will become the next Chris Gayle. Often it happens that a fast bowler, if he undergoes a stress fracture, cannot bowl as effectively. I think that Arjun should be handed over to Yuvraj for a while," he told CricketNext.

Arjun played his last competitive game of cricket in December for Goa in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. A month before that, he even took his maiden five-wicket haul in First-Class cricket getting 5-25 against Arunachal in the Ranji Trophy.

Coming the IPL, Arjun has played six matches so far for the Mumbai Indians. In 2023, he played four matches and picked up three wickets. In IPL 2024 with MI already eliminated from the competition, Arjun delivered two full-tosses to Nicholas Pooran and was punished with two massive sixes. To make matters worse, he had to leave the field right after due to an injury, unable to finish the over. The stress fracture, which Yograj previously mentioned, has already been a recurring setback in Arjun's career.
