Kolkata Clinches Third IPL Title (PTI)

Kolkata are the champions! The team celebrated on the field after delivering an outstanding performance to secure their third Indian T20 League Trophy, dominating Hyderabad. Bowling first, Shreyas Iyer’s side restricted their opponents to 114 runs, with Mitchell Starc and others excelling. Despite an early loss, Kolkata’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Venkatesh Iyer ensured an easy chase. Kolkata finished the season top of the table and clinched the final with ease.

Hyderabad faced heartbreak in the final after deciding to bat first, collapsing to 113 runs, the lowest first innings total in an Indian T20 League final. Despite an early wicket by Pat Cummins, their bowlers couldn't contain Kolkata, who chased the target in just 10.3 overs. Although disappointed with their last two games, Hyderabad had a positive season overall and are eager to return stronger next year.

The Kolkata Knight Riders put in a textbook bowling performance to skittle Sunrisers Hyderabad for a mere 113 in the Indian Premier League final on Sunday. This is the lowest total ever recorded in an IPL final.

Mitchell Starc (2/14), Andre Russell (3/19), and Harshit Rana (2/24) were the pick of the KKR bowlers, as SRH simply capitulated on the big occasion.

Choosing to bat first, SRH's innings got off to a disastrous start. They lost their key players Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head with just six runs on the board. Head, in fact, was dismissed for a golden duck, falling to a beautiful outswinger.

Before that, Abhishek was bowled by Mitchell Starc in the fifth ball of the very first over. It was a beauty of a delivery, swinging in sharply before hitting the top of his off-stump.

SRH were in deep trouble as Starc then took the wicket of Rahul Tripathi, leaving them reeling at 21/3 after just five overs. The KKR bowlers, exploiting the swing early on, had them on the ropes.

First-change bowler Harshit Rana continued the good work, dismissing Nitish Reddy (13). Andre Russell then removed Aiden Markram in his first over, pushing SRH further down at 62/5 by the 11th over.

From there, SRH could never recover.
